Personal Work
Once upon a time a gladiator discovered a morbid helmet among the corpses of others fallen to the arena, since the day he put it on his life would not end as long as the helmet tasted blood. Centuries and many new armors later he still pushes forth into battle to maintain whatever life lingers underneath the helmet.
I've been following the devlopments at Artstation from afar, and while I do enjoy some of the aspects of AI it is sad to see such a laxed and irresponsible stance from the website that's supposed to be leading in its field. And while callous usage of other people's art has existed with photobashing and other methods for a long time it is not comparable to how some people are now using AI to sample and steal other's art and claim it as their own. What pains me the most is that all these new "artists" are only after short term results, and by bringing nothing of their own will only hurt coming generations of people who would then be afraid to embrace their own new ideas instead of simply deriving all from others. I'm hoping for more action from the portfolio websites in order to force the software makers themselves to overlook what the databases contain, but it seems we won't get there until some legal battles are fought.
